The first thing I really noticed about my ebook copy of The Strange Life of Brandon Chambers was, unfortunately, fairly major formatting issues.
However, I’m glad I decided to give it a chance and keep reading. The story and plot of this book was really intriguing and interesting, and the writing was well done. It spans quite a large amount of time as compared to most novels I’ve read, but I think the author pulled it off well. The conflict and mysterious events that start right at the beginning of the book really grabbed my attention and kept me reading to find out what happens next.
This book combines quite a few things I have rarely seen together, including military, supernatural elements, government intrigue, and college life, even with some romance sprinkled in. I did notice some misuse of terms (for example, ‘otaku’ refers to a type of person, rather than a subculture; therefore, ‘her fascination with otaku’ is a rather awkward phrase and doesn’t mean what I think the author was intending it to mean).
Overall a good and entertaining read! I really enjoyed the plot twists at the end, and felt that the ending wrapped everything up quite nicely. – Anne ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I will admit…the formatting issues were distracting for me as I read through this book. That being said, it wound up being a decent read.
The title really sums up the story quite well: the life of protagonist Brandon Chambers truly is full of mysterious events. I found the action, plot, and characters to be engaging. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next! Brandon’s earlier years – particularly his adolescence – really spoke to me. Spotson gives us a complicated and fascinating protagonist to follow along with in this book.
Certain scenes toward the end were extremely vividly rendered. I’d love to visit that setting! Overall, I did enjoy the mystery. It seemed like most of the loose ends and questions were taken care of nicely. – Jake ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let’s hope they speedily fix the formating issues – you’re right – it always makes the reading experience unnecessarily difficult.

I hope they do as well. It can be really jarring and difficult reading indeed. Not the experience I’m looking for when I pick up a book.
